What is Odyssey of the Mind?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Odyssey of the Mind is a problem solving competition for kids K-12. Students are placed in teams of 3-7 with a coach. They then select a problem from a set and work for several months to create a solution. Their solution involves components such as a skit, costumes, songs, chemical reactions, moving vehicles, fashion shows and any number of things (based on their problem). Their solutions are presented during a local competition in March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 Competition Results<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our high school team placed 3rd in Regionals and advanced to States where they placed 3rd and advanced to Worlds! It’s the first time Grace has ever had a team advance to Worlds and we could not be more excited. Our elementary team placed 1st in Regionals and 5th in States! We are so proud of them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Competition Results<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our middle school team placed 2nd in Regionals and advanced to States where they placed 8th. Our elementary school team placed 7th in Regionals. Great work!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year our team competed in the Most Dramatic Problem Ever! Division II and placed 3rd in the region. Congratulations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell me more about how the problems work.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are quite a few rules and criteria and they can be a little tricky to understand. The gist of it is that they are given a scenario and they need to meet different criteria with a creative solution. For example – bugs are putting on a fashion show and need to include a commercial, a song and costumes. Another example is that cars need to bring components of a chemical reaction to an area five feet away and include a backstory. For sample problems, click here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do teams form?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
