Jump into our immersive, inquiry-based forest school program for students ages 4-13. We’ll explore 20 acres of forest with a natural creek and learn a number of skills including fire building, wilderness first aid, plant and animal identification, tracking, creating shelters and more.

As soon as my 3 got in [the car], the rave reviews started pouring! “That was so fun, we built a fort the size of our house!” “We saw a millipede!” “I know how to build a lean-to!” By far the most positive reaction from any class/activity they’ve done. And they’ve done some awesome stuff, so it’s big praise!

Fall 2024, Dates, Location and Cost

  • Our fall session will be on Fridays for eight weeks from September 6th through November 1st (excluding 9/20 for early hunting season) from 9 am to 12 pm. Registration opens on our registration page (click here) on July 29th at 11 am.
  • Forest School is held on 20 acres of privately owned land in Brockport, NY. The specific address will be shared with participants.
  • Forest School is a drop off program with paid instructors and assistants and costs $250 per student for the session with sibling discounts available. The first sibling is 10% off, the second is 15% off and the third and subsequent siblings are 20% off. Be sure to check out our fundraising opportunities if you need financial support.

Our sessions run in the Fall (September through November), Winter (January through March) and Spring (May and June).

Our Instructors and Ratios

The magic of our program is our incredible instructors. Each have an intense love of both nature and education and have an amazing knowledge base to share with your children! To learn more, enlarge each instructor bio. Jess teaches the youngest group (typically 4 and 5 year olds), Jake teaches the middle group (typically 6 and 7 year olds) and Cheri teaches the oldest group (typically 8-13 year olds).

We have a minimum of a 1:6 adult to child ratio. Each group has one instructor and one aide. If there are more than 12 students, a second aide is added. All adults are background checked.

Important Details

  • Bathrooms. Our program takes place on undeveloped land and there is a composting toilet available for use. There is no indoor plumbing.
  • Weather. The program runs rain or shine so please dress accordingly! If there is truly dangerous weather (e.g. thunder and lightening, wind storms, etc.) we will contact you.
  • Development. All students should be fully potty trained and able to give sufficient notice that they need to use the restroom (sometimes the group is not near the bathroom and it make be a walk to get there). They also need to be able to stay with a group, follow instructions and manage personal belongings.
  • Drop Off. While we love parents who love to be involved, for the safety of the students and due to the nature of the program, this program is drop off only.

We look forward to seeing you in the woods!
