What is Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind is a problem solving competition for kids K-12. Students are placed in teams of 3-7 with a coach. They then select a problem from a set and work for several months to create a solution. Their solution involves components such as a skit, costumes, songs, chemical reactions, moving vehicles, fashion shows and any number of things (based on their problem). Their solutions are presented during a local competition in March.

Tell me more about how the problems work.
There are quite a few rules and criteria and they can be a little tricky to understand. The gist of it is that they are given a scenario and they need to meet different criteria with a creative solution. For example – bugs are putting on a fashion show and need to include a commercial, a song and costumes. Another example is that cars need to bring components of a chemical reaction to an area five feet away and include a backstory. For sample problems, click here.
How do teams form?
Due to the intensive nature of Odyssey, teams are formed by invitation. Think you might be a good fit? Feel free to contact us!
