What do scouts do?
BSA is a leadership and educational program that has been serving youth for over 100 years. Scouts learn skills and concepts that are applicable to real life such as first aid skills, how to cook and the importance of nutrition, and more. Problem solving and team building are also a huge emphasis of the scout program. Students are provided with ample opportunity for adventure and given countless opportunities to try new and exciting things. Scouts can also earn rank advancements which not only builds confidence but also can help them more easily find employment and get into college. Scouts BSA provides a program unlike any other that truly does prepare your daughter for life.
Scout commitment
Scouts is a year round program that allows for travel and involvement in other sports and activities. It’s ideal if girls can attend as many meetings as possible, but missing meetings won’t interfere with their experience. Similarly, campouts are optional, but encouraged. Having said that, our meetings are so awesome, you won’t want to miss a single one!
Adult involvement and costs
Adult involvement is always optional. We welcome adults to participate, but if that’s not workable for your family you’re equally welcome to drop off. You can expect to pay $120 a year for dues as well as additional fees for camping weekends (typically around $30) and other activities. Ample fundraising opportunities are provided, and funds you raise go directly to your scout.

For more than 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.
The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to
- Try new things.
- Provide service to others.
- Build self-confidence.
- Reinforce ethical standards.
While various activities and youth groups teach basic skills and promote teamwork, Scouting goes beyond that and encourages youth to achieve a deeper appreciation for service to others in their community.
