After a few short years of competition we are THRILLED to share that our high school team has qualified for worlds! We’ve made it to states 3 out of 4 years but have never advanced beyond that. Our teams begin meeting in September where we select a problem and then start working on a solution to the problem. It involves writing a script, including required elements, and performing the solution in under 8 minutes. All props are made from found materials and need to be completed as inexpensively as possible. Teams then compete in a regional tournament where they have an opportunity to qualify for states, and then states where they have an opportunity to qualify for worlds. Typically only the top 1-3 teams advance in each tournament.

There is also a spontaneous component where teams are given a problem they’ve never seen before and have to work together as a group to come up with the most creative solutions possible. Points are awarded for spontaneous, long term and style.

Odyssey is all about team work, creativity, and problem solving. We’re so proud of this group of kids and what they’ve achieved!
