If you find reading and math difficult or monotonous to teach or you just want extra exposure in a fun and exciting learning environment for your 1st-3rd grade student (turning 6 by December 1st), the Greenhouse Learning Pod is for you! This drop off program will take place on Mondays from 9-11 am in Spencerport for 12 weeks in the fall and 12 weeks in the spring (for exact dates, click here).

We will be focusing on basic math and reading skills. If your 8 year old is reading fluently and successfully completing 3rd grade math, this program may not be a good fit.

The Greenhouse Learning Pod will be taught by Michelle Seward.

Michelle is a teacher-turned-homeschooling mom who has taught her children from pre-K up to 5th grade so far. She received her BS in Adolescence Education for English 5th-12th grades from Roberts Wesleyan College, and then went on to obtain her Masters in Library and Information Science as a School Library Media Specialist from the University of Buffalo. Michelle’s classroom experiences are diverse and include opportunities such as spending five years being a Reference Librarian at Genesee Community College, two years of being an elementary educator at Rochester Classical Academy for a 2nd/3rd combo class and then a 2nd grade class, along with multiple years of teaching swimming lessons to children of all ages, leading Bible studies, and being an ELA Tutor at a local Community Learning Center. Michelle’s enjoyment for connecting children with books is demonstrated by her long-standing work at the local Public Library where she continues to enjoy directing various story time events as well as guiding the book club for homeschooled students at the middle grade levels. Her biggest educational belief is that “every day is a learning day,” and her goal is to work with young learners of all levels to help them develop a greater appreciation for how literature can enrich their lives beyond the classroom.

She will be differentiated instruction to help students learn the fundamentals of reading and math. There will also be a parent aide in the room and a maximum of 15 students. All adults in all Grace programs complete a background check and as always, we have an open door policy. For more information about our safety policies click here.
